TRADE ANALYSIS AND MORE

Hoops,

I'm interested in trading for Joe Smith (his owner doesn't even start him) while his fantasy value is low. Do you see him being a more valuable fantasy player in the future as compared to G Lynch (my current 4th forward). This owner wants Skinner in return for Smith. Is that a fair deal?

John

John,

Joe Smith is still recovering from an injury but should continue to improve. Skinner has been putting up big numbers without Taylor in the lineup and is currently playing better than Smith. But this trade could have long term benefits as Smith should eventually be a better player than Skinner. This could give you insurance with Lynch who may get less time when Geiger returns. You probably got Skinner from the waiver wire so what do have to lose. If the team you are trading with is behind you to a certain degree you don't need to worry so much about this trade going sour too.

Dear Hoopsklyce,

I cant seem to find any new information on Billups. He is on the injured list for a sprained ankle that happened the last game of pre-season. I was wondering if you had heard anything on his return. Is he even worth waiting for to return. I picked up Bob Sura for him. Do you think I should just keep Sura and drop him? Bobby has been playing pretty well but I am not sure how long that will last. If you have any info that would be great. Thanks Warner.

PS. I love your daily reports. Keep up the good work. Thanks to you I am currently in first place in my league. I LOVE THIS GAME!!!!

Warner:

Billups had a severely sprained ankle but has begun practicing with the team. He should be activated for one of the Nuggets next couple games. Initially he will not get a lot of playing time and so Sura should continue to have more fantasy value than Billups. Billups has the potential to have more value than Sura when at full speed. Letting Billups remain a free agent would create the risk of someone else taking him.

Hoops,

Please analyze this trade offer. I would trade Campbell and Phills for Christie and Starks. It is a standard 8 league(FT's). My roster is: Jones, Kidd , Phills, Campbell, Divac, Laettner, Ratliff, Russell, Rose, Dale Davis, Sprewell, Trent, Murdock, Skinner, and Hamilton.

Steve

Steve,

At this time Christie is a top 30 player so to get him on your team would be nice. I think right now Campbell is playing a little below his potential reducing his trade value. Depending on how deep your league is you may end up waiving Starks. A 120 man league is about the most Starks has any value in. This would be an even trade but I think being on the side that has the best individual player (Christie) makes it worth a shot.

From ROTOGECKO@aol.com :

1) do you know when E. Dampier is coming back?

a- In a couple weeks

2) Divac & Potapenko did not start the last game do you know why?

a- Divac - not sure - maybe needed a rest - don't think there is anything serious here Potapenko - to limit his foul problems - he should still get most of the Center minutes

Hoops:

What's up with Camby?

F. Gabler

Fred:

The following was taken from the New York Knicks Team report: Camby has a painful case of tendinitis in his left knee that obviously is hampering him. He was able to play only 19 minutes Saturday at Golden State, scoring a mere three points on 1-for-5 shooting and pulling down five rebounds. Camby suggested it might be better for him to skip Tuesday's game at the Los Angeles Clippers and come back against Orlando on Saturday at Madison Square Garden, which would give him a full week of rest.

Hi Hoops,

I need your advise on a trade that I got working. Like you I have Iverson. I also have Kobe Bryant, so I've been dealing with injuries and my team's near bottom ranking reflects it. Besides those two players my team consists of Garnett, McDyess, Anthony Mason, Rod Strickland, Jerry Stackhouse, Elton Brand, Michael Dickerson, Joe Smith, Walt Williams, Larry Hughes, Andre Miller, Bimbo Coles, Shandon Anderson, Jamie Feick and Erick Strickland.

The deal in the works is Garnett, Rod Strickland and Shandon Anderson for Paul Pierce, Mike Bibby and Kendall Gill. We have a keeper league and Garnett goes back into the pool after this year. Our stats are based on points, rebounds, FG%, FT%, 3pt%, turnovers, assists, blocks and steals. What do you think? Am I panicking too soon?

Conrad

Your proposed trade would be Garnett for Pierce effectively. Even with only one year left on Garnett I don't think I would give him up. You may want to try your luck in the free agent pool to improve your team. I see Jason Terry and Andre Miller as emerging before too long as significant factors. Hopefully Hughes will produce for you with Iverson out.

Hoops,

I just repicked Larry Hughes for Wally....what kind of stats will he get? Also what about these trades, my player(s) is the first one.

1)Kemp+D. Davis
2)Mcdyess

1) Kenny Anderson
2)Dee Brown (I need stats, but is he too 1dimensional?)

Are these good trades for me?

Damer

I think Hughes will put up huge numbers while Iverson is out. I like that move. Trade number one I would say is good in the preseason but at this time Davis is playing well and McDyess is a little off - Kemp too I think will round into shape. The second trade is OK if you need treys - otherwise I would hang on to Kenny.
