Hoops,

I'm in a keeper league with rotisserie categories of PARSB. My starting team is Outlaw, A Davis (2 centers), Rahim, Pierce, McGrady, Lynch (4 forwards), Payton, Brandon, Armstrong, and V Carter (4 guards). I've been offered McDyess (F/C) for Carter (F/G). What do you think? Also, as you can notice, I have 3 Toronto players in my starting lineup. Is that good or bad?

John

I don't have a problem with 3 players from same team if they are productive. Vince and Antonio have a similar value for your league. Carter is better in points while McDyess is better in bl. McDyess may have started more slowly with a bad ankle and may end up with slightly better value in second half than Carter. McDyess also has to struggle this season for touches with Van Exel and Mercer in his backcourt.

Hoopsklyce,

I need some advice. I have been offered any or all of the following players for Lamar Odom:

  • A. Davis
  • V. Baker
  • S. Marion
  • A. Mason
  • A. Walker
  • C. Gattling
  • M. Blaylock
  • J. Jackson
  • C. Mobley

My current team is as follows:

  • E. Campbell
  • A. Mourning
  • O. Harrington
  • T. McGrady
  • C. Mills
  • L. Odom
  • B. Russell
  • G. Trent
  • S. Cassell
  • D. Christie
  • L. Hunter
  • B. Sura

The league is a carryover league with P,A,R,S,B scoring. Should I even consider moving Odom? If so, any suggestions on what I should ask for. I was thinking Baker and Walker, but beyond that I am not sure. What do you Think?

Thank you.
Mike Riordan

Considering that you are in a keeper I would stay with Odom. He is a prime player and all of the others are not. Lamar recently had some bad games but he will improve.

Hoops,

I was offered a trade and want your advice.I wanted Bibby and Chapman for DeClerq and Maxwell. They came back with Coles and Chapman for Battie and Maxwell? We need another guard and I have penny who is hurt.I want Bibby and would rather give up DeClerq than Battie. What do you think?

Thanks,
Scott

This is not a blockbuster. Would stick to your demand for Bibby as he is the only player with real value in this deal. Now is a good time to trade for Bibby since he is playing below his potential. Chapman will be hurt soon so you might want to try to avoid him. Battie has been a tease but he can play at times too - would try to hold to him.

What do you think of this trade I just made? I gave up V.Carter, J.Williams (Sacramento), Stoudamire & Odom for Grant Hill & Mason. The rest of my team is Mourning, Camby, Antonio & Dale Davis, Webber, Finley, Ceballos, Jimmy Jackson, Kittles, Kenny & Nick Anderson, Hughes, Artest, Mobley, Fortson and Gatling. Also who would you start at guard...Hughes or Nick Anderson?

Thanks,
Jon

I hope you got two prospects as well since you traded 4 for two. I think you gave up a bit much for those two...I would have tried to negotiate an improvement of Mason. At this time would start Hughes over Anderson.

To Hoops:

I don't know what to do with my guards. I have: Kobe Bryant, Jason Terry, Mark Jackson, Voshon Lenard, Terry Porter, Jeff Hornacek, and Erick Strickland. Lenard, Porter, and Strickland are on the bench with the other four starting. Do you think I should drop J. Terry and pick up A. Mckie? Should I automatically start Voshon every time since I live here in Miami, and I've been watching him play over the weeks, and the other night he had 29 points, 5-7 in threes. Also, with Timmy out he might have more playing time. Tell me what you think.

I would not recommend picking up McKie. I think he has been lucky to have fantasy value for a period of time after Iverson returned. I don't think he will have value much longer. I would think Lenard could have more value than Terry or even Jackson and could start. I would not start a player just because he is on your home team -- only if he has value. If you are familiar with him this decision is easier to make. Hardaway will return and lower Lenard's value.

Someone in my league has just offered me David Wesley, Mike Bibby, Anthony Mason, and Steve Nash for Adrian Griffin, Lindsey Hunter, Vin Baker, and Gary Trent. What do you think I should do? And also, do you know when Ilgauskus is coming back this year and if he is, do you think I should pick him up because I really need blocks.

Jon

I generally avoid mega trades like the one above because they are tough to truly evaluate. I would try to rework the deal so it is only two for two. The thing I don't like about the trade above is that this is basically three decent players in exchange for four decent players. The non-decent player is Steve Nash and I would not want to have him on my team. I would not count on Ilgauskas having fantasy value this season.

I have Ratliff, Jones and Croshere injured at the moment. My roster in a standard 8 league is: Kidd, Sprewell, Christie, rose, Hudson, dale Davis, Divac, Trent, Tyrone hill, Russell, Laettner and Battie. I am thinking of dropping Battie. Which of the following free agents would you take?? Sealey, Mckie, O. Miller, Wallace or foyle. I can make up ground in FG% and blocks.

Steve

Oliver Miller should be able to help in fg% and bl. I recommend him for your needs.
