I was in 2nd place till Iverson got hurt. Then dropped to 5th. Since his return I've regained my 2nd place, but 1st is nearly 500 points ahead. I recently traded Odom,Brand & Olowokandi for S.Allen. SG's are hard to come by in our league. I'm high in points,FTM,3PTM & TO. I'm low in AST, REB, STEALS & BLKS.

I have: Iverson,R.Allen,B.Phills,G.Robinson,M.Taylor,V.Carter, P.Ewing,M.Geiger,J.Rose,R.Lafrentz,J.Howard,J.Mashburn& D.Fortson. Who would you move....and who to go after? Was offered A.Jamison for Ewing? Will Ewing hold up?

Thanks for listening!!
Denis

I think Ewing made sure he was OK before returning from latest injury so I think he will be OK. If you trade Ewing you will hurt your reb and bl. Jamison is a terrible shot blocker. I would try to trade Howard - if not consider just dropping - Also I'm not sure Fortson will be productive this season particularly in Boston where minutes may be erratic.

Hoops-

I heard the trade rumors about Tracy Mcgrady that he will be traded to the Lakers and I know this will lower his fantasy value. Do you think it would be a good idea to trade him? And if I do, should I trade him for another shot blocker because he is one of my best shot blockers.

Thanks,
John

I feel it is best strategy to not make fantasy trades based solely on anticipated real world trades. It is very difficult to predict what will actually happen. If the trade makes senses assuming status quo I would do it.

I have been offered Rider/Cassell/Van Horn for Duncan I'm in a P,A,R,S,B,3,FG%,FT% league. I'm in first right now, But my Blocks, Rebounds, and FG% would suffer with this trade. What do you think?

Scot

I would be the one getting Duncan in this deal. I am surprised Cassell hasn't gotten hurt yet (as he has in the past) although he is playing great. You don't need the aggravation of Rider. The guy is offering a lot, but I prefer to not break down my superstars into pieces. You would also have to waive two guys. And if you are in first...why bother?

Hoops

I need your advice. I have been proposed a deal of Avery Johnson and Mitch Richmond for (I have) Troy Hudson and Steve Smith. I need Three pointers and assists in the worst way. Is this a good deal for me?

Thanks.
Damon

Hudson and Johnson really won't have much impact of an your team as a whole so its best to focus on the other part of the trade. The way Richmond has been playing lately he will probably get you a few more treys than Smith but not many. If you really want to make an impact in your trey category you should give up a guy whose strength is in a category you are strong in (for example maybe rebs). Richmond for Smith will not be a big change in the chemistry of your team. For example, a guy like Rasheed Wallace for Mitch Richmond might be a better approach.

I just made a trade and I want to know what you think. I just traded Nick Van Exel, and Vin Baker for Mike Bibby, and Dirk Nowitzki.

I like this trade. Van Exel can hurt you in fg% and Nowitzki is an up and comer who can fill out the stat sheet and Bibby has been playing great lately.

Hi Hoops,

I subscribe to your E-mailer and have an opinion question I'd like to ask. Our league is a roto-based league using points, assists, rebounds, steals, blocks, turnovers, and 3s. I am being offered Kelvin Cato and Charles Oakley for McGrady plus Troy Hudson. Good idea for me or not, do you think?

I kind of like this trade in that I could trade McGrady before the Raptors trade him and cause him to possibly lose value. He could get traded to a team like the Lakers where his stats could decline because of playing time crunch. McGrady also said he'd like to go to Philly to play with Iverson. Who knows if he'll change teams and if that'll help or hurt his numbers? I'm betting that his stats will fall if he's traded by the Raptor but who knows?

As for Hudson, you never know when his minutes for the Clips will disappear. As you pointed out, he rode the bench quite a good bit in the 12/30 Clips game. I hate to lose Hudson's 3s and assists, but if he's going to ride the Clippers' bench anyway, maybe I should make this trade.

I also have some concerns though about Cato and HIS playing time. Over the last 6 games or so, his numbers have been worthwhile. I'm sure Barkley's injury improves Cato's value. Still, Cato's stats have been very erratic this season.

Do you think Cato will continue to produce as he has over the last 6 games or so? Or will he continue to be erratic, especially when Hakeem returns? I figure him to continue to be erratic. (Chris Ford and Rudy T's rotations are BOTH a bit hard to figure out.) I am trying to get the other owner to include Eldon Campbell instead of Cato in the trade but he resists. He also owns Ewing and Bradley. I wonder if me asking for Ewing+Oakley over Cato+Oakley would be a good idea. I think he might go for that. I'd be interested in your thoughts on this....

Thanks,
Woody

I would take my chances with McGrady because of his potential and hold on to him (particularly now since Cato has a sore wrist). Hakeem will be back in a couple weeks to make Cato's erratic once again. I would also not be too thrilled to have a player like Oakley with no upward potential on the team (although he has had some good games recently). A team willing to commit to receiving McGrady in a trade should be ready to give him at least the 25-30 he gets in Toronto. For example, if he went to Lakers Rice would most likely leave giving him minutes in that spot.

How bad is Sprewell's move back to Forward going to hurt his fantasy value?

Thanks,
Michael

I think the move back to forward will probably reduce Spree's fantasy value somewhat but mainly because Patrick Ewing will be requiring more touches and clogging up the middle limiting his offensive options. As Ewing gets in better shape the worse it will get for Sprewell although I still expect him to have decent fantasy value.
