The New Orleans
Hornets acquired Casey
Jacobsen,
Maciej Lampe,
and Jackson
Vroman for Jim
Jackson and
a second round draft pick. Fantasy-wise this could be a win-win
situation. Jackson goes from having zero value since he was not
playing to having some value with the Suns. Although the Suns
have been the best team record-wise in the NBA, there should be
playing time available for Jackson since the Suns have gone with
basically just five guys. This lack of depth should enable
Jackson to see some minutes - 30 mpg is not out of the question.
The Hornets have been one
of the worst teams in the league playing the likes of Lee Nailon for
heavy minutes. Casey Jacobson could make an impact for his three
point shooting. In his last ten games for the Suns he was good
enough to play over 20 mpg and he averaged over 1 trey per game.
This should go up in New Orleans. Lampe is an interesting 19 year
old prospect who was not getting playing time in Phoenix as they were
gunning for a Championship. In New Orleans he may be given the
opportunity to show his skills. I actually own Lampe in a deep 16
team keeper league. Those who have the opportunity to pick up and
keep Lampe (for minimal cost) should give him consideration.
Meanwhile, some of the New Orleans players who had been seeing some
playing playing time such as
Lee Nailon,
J.R. Smith,
and
Chris Andersen may
see less as a result of this trade.
When
Mike Sweetney plays,
he is typically productive on a per minute basis. With the Knicks
propelling themselve towards the lottery, they may decide to give
increased minutes to their younger players such as Sweetney. On
Friday night he had 15 pts and 8 rebounds in only 18 minutes. Give
him some consideration before your competitors do.
Juan Dixon has
been very hot with Larry Hughes out. In his last five games he is
averaging 19 pts, 2.6 sts, and 59% FG. Also, Jarvis
Hayes may be seeing heavy minutes as a
starter. Both are good interim pickups.
