With the an injury to Mike James and the continued absence of the
projected eventual starter TJ Ford, former second round Jazz pick
Maurice Williams has stumbled into some playing time for the Milwaukee
Bucks. He has responded by chipping in around 10 assists per game which
has gotten the attention of fantasy owners everywhere who have gobbled
him up despite his associated 36% field goal percentage. Don’t give up
too much realizing his downside of the return of the other PG’s and the
fact he is an unproven player.
Since the preseason I have been intrigued by NJ point guard Zoran
Planinic. With the recent loss of Ron Mercer from the Nets back court
some additional minutes may come his way. On Saturday night he had 16
points, 9 reb, 4 ast, and 3 steals. He may be worth a flyer. His
downside is that he is an unproven player, the Nets will find
themselves in demoralizing blow out losses frequently when the whole
team scores 65 points, and the eventual return of Jason Kidd.
Jason Hart piqued the interest of fantasy owners when he had 23
assists in two games. But playing with the Bobcats there will be nights
such as last night where his production is minimal. Still worth a flyer
particularly with Brevin Knight hurt.
Eddie House joins the list of players worth taking a flyer on with
three consecutive games of double figure scoring including 20 last
night.
Ben Gordon may currently be out of favor but acquiring now at a
cheap price to me could be a wise move. Teammate Tyson Chandler is
another who’s stock is currently low and worth a look.
The love-hate relationship with Drew Gooden continues with last
night being a night of affection (14 pts, 15 rebs, 4 st, 2 bl). A
couple games ago owners were considering dropping him after a two game
total of 6 reb.
At one point last night Antoine Walker was 4-16 but he finished
9-21. Such is life with a streaky shooter.
Take note of the 7 blocks from Brendan Haywood on Saturday night
particularly if he is available in your league.
