Mail Bag: Some Trade
Advice
Nov 11, 2005

Hoops:
Our league has a waiver pick coming up Monday. The only guy on my roster I
might consider dropping is James Jones. A few options out there are Smush
Parker, Boris Diaw and Shawn Livingston. What do you think, hold tight or
make a move for one of the above mentioned players? The scoring system is
P-R-A-S-B-3’s-FG%-FT%.

Although Diaw appears to be
overtaking Jones it is not clear cut. Right now between the four players I
would say it is a crap shoot. My suggestion is that Livingston is your last
resort because of his back and the fact Cassell seems to have established
himself as the starter. Parker at this time seems to have the most regular
minutes of the bunch and Diaw’s minutes are trending upward making those two
the most desirable of the group.
Hi Hoops, in a CBS sportline league with the following
cats p,a,r,s,b,-to - would you trade away Vince Carter and Chris Bosh for
Lamar Odom and Yao Ming? The position requirements are C min 1 max 2, f min 4
max 5 g min 4 max 5. Centers on my team include Ben Wallace and Chris Kaman.
Damon 11/11/05
Although the season is still
young, I get the following performance ratings for your category group:
Bosh 18.4
Carter 23
Ming 29.6
Odom 26.1
So Ming and Odom have both
been outperforming Bosh and Carter. While Bosh has started slow, there is no
reason to think Ming and Odom won't continue to give at least comparable
value. Ming also makes you less prone to an injury to Ben Wallace and making
you forced to start Kaman. For this reason I like you accepting the trade.
I am in a ten team p,r,a,s,b,3,ft,fg%. My current
roster is Marion, J O’neal, Bibby, Gasol, J Richardson, Billups, Camby,
Iguodala, Miles, Chandler, Przybilla, and Telfair. Each week we play 6
players. I have been offered TMac and Francis for J Rich, Billups, and Basol.
Would you do it?Joe C 11/09/05
I would recommend that you
don' take on Tmac and his bad back and you would be giving up far more
overall value. It is my sense that TMac’s back could be a chronic problem
this year. Gasol has the potential to be more valuable than Tmac even with a
healthy back since he seems to now be getting the extended playing time. By
the way, try to have patience with Telfair and his slow start.
I have been offered Chris Webber for Lamar Odom in a
trade proposal. It is an 8 team "head-to-head" league with rotisserie
scoring. P, A, R, 3PT, FG%,FT%,S,B,-TO. Any thoughts?
Rob W 11/10/05
I would want Lamar Odom over
Chris Webber considering Webber’s propensity to miss games with injury
although both have been valuable so far. Odom early on has seen an increase
in his three’s, assists, and steals although his FG% is low.
