Survey:
April 20, 2006
Subscribers to the
HoopsKlyce Preseason Report and the Regular Season Emailer & Ratings
were asked the following question: What place are you in and how many
teams are in your league? The results are summarized below. This is a
follow-up to a
previous survey that was done in December. If you were to compare the
results of the surveys it can be seen that the general standing of HoopsKlyce
subscribers improved throughout the season and a significant percentage of
HoopsKLYCE subscribers finish in first place.

The following further explains the data in the table above:
League Size: The number of teams in the league. The results were grouped
by league size. A 12 teams league was the most common followed by a 10 team
league.
HoopsKlyce Average Rank: The average place reported by HoopsKlyce
subscribers for the associated league size. An average rank of 1.0 would
mean that everyone who reported was in first place.
Theoretical Median Rank: Should every team in a league have reported,
this would be the average rank or the rank for which half of the teams are
above and half the teams are below. I was looking to see that the average
HoopsKlyce rank was better than the theoretical median rank.
HoopsKlyce %First Place: This is the percentage of HoopsKlyce subscriber
teams that were reported to be in first place.
Theoretical %First Place: Should every team in the league have
theoretically reported, this would be the percentage of those in first
place. For example if every member in a ten team league reported, one person
would be in first out of ten for a percentage of 10%. I was looking to see
if the HoopsKlyce percentage was above this 'average' number.
HoopsKlyce %Last place: This is the percentage of HoopsKlyce subscriber
teams that were reported to be in last place.
Note that there were some league sizes different than those shown in the
table (for example a 6 team league and a couple 20 team leagues) but the
small sampling would not give useful results.
