Q - As you see by my attachments, I'm currently in 6th place. I've been between 1st and 6th thanks to you and your service. I have a few questions for you this weekend. I have a few trade offers

  • 1) Team White Rob has offer Stoudamire and Swift for Marion and Hoiberg,
  • 2) Team Shake Rattle N, Roll has offered Van Horn, J. Howard, D. Miles, and Mark Jackson for Wallace, Lewis, Peterson, and MCleod, and my last offer
  • 3) Team E is breakers wants Fortson. Are any of these trades good for my team?

Is Fortson worth holding on to and if not what's he worth? Do you see any other dead weigh? Or should I sit pat and not rock the team and wait to see what plays out (patience right!) Thanks again for you GREAT service and insight. Fantasy basketball is more enjoyable with your site.

Allen

  • 1) Would stick with Marion.
  • 2) Seems like to much of a team shake up
  • 3) Why not try to cash out Fortson - he could miss the whole year although he says he will be back. He has Ilgauskas foot.

Q - Hi Hoops,

I have Sura on my bench. Should I drop him for Terry? I don't need to play either, but which would be better trade material?

Thanks. -Vincent

A - Sura's long term liability is the return of Hughes. Would keep Terry although Sura is playing better right now.

Q - Hoops,

What do you think of Keon Clark's prospects? He played pretty well & logged good minutes on Sunday.

Signed,
Mark

A - I think he will have good value for whenever A. Davis is out, but will not get consistent minutes when Davis plays.

Q - I'm a first year subscriber of your NBA player rankings which I really enjoyed your insight on all NBA player not just the everyday superstars that we all know about. I have a question for you if you have time, I'm in a keeper league with a salary cap and have been given the following trade offer:

Marc Jackson $5

for

Doug Christie $11.50

Al Harrington $1

I really wanted to get your thoughts on Harrington for the next couple of years, I seen some flashes of greatness from this kid, but I want to hearyour thoughts.....

Jason

A - We are seeing flashes of pts and reb and sometime assists from Harrington. Kind of light in steals and blocks though. I would tend to stick with Marc Jackson (I assume this is the GS player). Christie seems kind of expensive considering his age.

Q - Any insight into why Rashard Lewis's numbers have dropped so precipitously? I still think he's going to be a big time scorer, but I guess just not this season.

A - My guess is that he is getting fatigued with the big minutes he has been logging combined with a nagging injury he has been playing with.. Should be a lesson learned here to trade away these guys who start out so hot.

Q - Hoops, Your thoughts on Whitney. When does strickland come back and does he play. Do you think strickland is traded? I am starting Whitney now and want to know if I should trade him while he looks great. It is a tough call.

Thanks,
SB

A - I have Whitney too and am wondering the same thing. This is not the answer you may want to hear in terms of certainty but I am guessing a 65% chance Chris Whitney maintains his value. I doubt any team will want Strickland but Strickland may either sit out the season because he is a dope or the Wizards might play Strickland as a reserve. Whitney had better calm down from low percentage shots too to keep his spot.

Q - Hey Hoops, Randy Brown with Celtics seems to suddenly be putting up some decent minutes Anything to this or is it just an aberration? Thanks

E2MF

A - It is mostly because Kenny Anderson is out. If you get Randy Brown for your team keep a close watch on when Kenny Anderson returns since after that Brown's minutes will go down.

Q - Hello, I am one of your clients, just need your opinion, in a keepers league points style, P, R, A, S, and B, we use the 5 regular starters by positions(1,2,3,4,5) each starter play up to 5 games a week , with back ups complementing the total. I am hurting at Center, I got Ewing , Traylor and Pryzibilla (my last year pick) my other starters , Walker -4, Rose-3, A Miller-1, Sprewell -2, Back ups F, Oakley, Spoon, G are BKnight, Strickland and Lenard. I got a trade offer on the table M Camby ( the C the I need ) and R Mercer for J Rose. What do you think , I think I am going to do it, please reply before Thursday if you can? Thanks.

Samuel

A - Trade seems reasonable - in your league Camby and Rose actually have similar value on a per game basis. You can think of Mercer as the additional value you need in this trade to compensate for when Camby sits out his usual 20 games per season.

Q - Would you drop Billups or do you think he will be back in the starting Lineup shortly?

A - I would hold on to Billups a bit more, but it seems as if Peeler and Billups might split time giving each little value.

Q - I can trade Allan Houston and Jermaine O'Neal for Ray Allen with the guy in 4th place who is desperate for blocks/rebounds. Is this too much from my perspective? My biggest worry about the trade is rebounding, where I'm not totally bought into Marc Jackson or Darius Miles being able to replace O'Neal for the whole year. Also, Houston has been awesome lately, but am I right in thinking it can't last and I should sell him high?

cheers,
Gordon

A - Seems like a decent deal but to really make an impact in steals it would be nice to get a guy like Jason Kidd who has similar value to Allen. You might want to find a player who can get you 2 spg although Ray is pretty close at 1.8. You can use your available roster spot after the trade to find another player who gets. Considering your lead I would not worry to much about the deal. If the team you are trading with is in the lower half of the lead and his team improves it might help to bring down the roto score of your closest competitors.

Q - Hoops, Don't want this to come off like gobbling, but I am in first place in an 8 category (p,a,r,st,bl,3,fg%,ft%)11 team league using your draft list and your weekly rankings. Thanks! I am hurting in Assists (2nd to last but within range, and steals 6th place moving up) and recently traded the Viking (Dirk N.) and Tim Thomas (not a starter) for Paul Pierce and Scottie Pippen (gone nuts since trade), so my rebounds are slowly taking a hit and I have been starting Bradley at center because I have no one else who blocks. I was just offered this trade: Jalen Rose and Jason Terry for Paul Pierce and Scottie Pippen. Your last rankings (12/22) would suggest yes on this trade (not based on team category rankings)...Hoops, I know you've been busy but what do you think?

A - Without looking at current rankings (which should be updated today - it seems like a decent deal. I think Pippen is spiking up right now but his points should go back down when Rasheed takes the team back over.

Q - What's up hoops- I'm in a keeper league for next year, and out of the list of players, I can keep only 2. Jason Terry, Rashard Lewis, Jermaine O'Neal, and D Wesley. And will any of these players have the same type of year this year, or will any of them improve?

Thanks for your help
Jon

A - Jon you have some nice players there for a keeper league. If O'Neal qualifies as a center that gives him an advantage. I would probably go with Lewis and O'Neal...both are still very young and have star potential. Next would be Terry. Last would be Wesley. He is a solid player but does not have the same upside as the other guys.

Q - Looking for help in 3's, assists and steals.....what are your thoughts on Felipe Lopez, Nesby, or Damon Jones?

A - Jones is good at these categories but his playing time is inconsistent. Right now Lopez seems to be getting the most playing time but really only will help in the steal category. Nesby would be give the most help in the three point category.

Q - Do you believe in Darius Miles coming through like the last couple of days for the remainder of the season. Can he get the minutes and what kind of stats do you think I can expect if I pick him up in our supplementary draft???

Morten

A - It is my gut feeling that Darius Miles should receive consistent 30+ minutes over the next month or so. He should give around 12-15 pts, 8-9 reb, and 1+ blocks. But after a month or so of 30+ minutes I would be concerned that the young guy will experience fatigue and see a drop in stats/minutes.

Q - I need treys and I was looking to trade Glenn Robinson and Ron Mercer for Ray Allen and David Wesley. What do you think? The categories consist of pts.reb.ass. stls. blks.as/to. ft%,fg%,fgm and treys. >>

A - Seems like a good trade since Allen is a league leader in three pointers made per game.
